VueScan works with most high-quality flatbed and film scanners, helping produce scans of excellent color pop and balance. Features include batch scanning, producing color-balanced and cropped images, and more, all thanks to the advanced hardware capabilities of today's scanners.

According to Hamrick Software, the latest version of VueScan improves support for newer Canon scanners. Those include the following scanners: 5600F, LiDE 100, LiDE 200, MP190, MP240, MP260, MP480, MP620, MP630, MP540, MP980.

There are two Editions of VueScan – Standard and Professional. However, users only need to download a single file for either version. The first time they download the software, it operates as a free trial, but as soon as they purchase and enter the serial number, the Standard Edition or Professional Edition features are enabled. Also, the dollar-sign watermark is disabled.

You can update to the latest version for free, if you already own an older version of the software. To update, just download the trial version using the link below, and the software will automatically recognize if you've already purchased it. Just install it over your old version of VueScan, and you're good to go. Upgrades are free in the first year after you purchase the Standard Edition. Upgrades are always free if you purchase the Professional Edition. VueScan requirements call for Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or later and a supported scanner.

Hamrick Software debuted with VuePrint, an easy-to-use JPEG viewer for Windows that was the recommended image viewer for AOL for several years in a row. It garnered some 100,000 users, and, seven years later, the company released the initial version of VueScan. The program managed to impress thanks to its ability to leverage the power of flatbed and film scanners. VueScan, also available for Windows and Linux, now supports over 1200 flatbed and film scanners, and hundreds of digital camera raw file types.
