Vringo, a next-generation ringtone pioneer, announced recently a partnership with Sony Ericsson through which its free video ringtone application will be pre-linked on global shipments of the manufacturer's Walkman handsets, while also being promoted through the phone maker's Fun & Downloads portal. Vringo’s video ringtones are already used by a great number of Symbian, Java and Windows Mobile users, along with the VringForward technology, which enables the sending of ringtones to friends just by calling.

Vringo is continuously moving towards a global availability and monetization of video ringtones, and the partnership with Sony Ericsson is the last step it took in achieving its goal. Vringo announced recently it partnered with operators from Turkey and France to offer users a way to download the Vringo application and access content, which can sometimes be done on a paid-subscription basis.

“Our partnership with Sony Ericsson is unprecedented,” said Vringo CEO Jon Medved. “In addition to being the first social video ringtone application to be downloadable directly from Sony Ericsson phones, we’re reaching millions of Walkman users—one of the most innovative, media-hungry audiences in the world.”

Vringo’s application will be available for Sony Ericsson users around the world, as it already is for a wide variety of Symbian, Java and Windows Mobile devices on the company's official website. Users are offered a means of creating video, images and slideshows from almost anywhere, which also includes Vringo’s 4,000-clips-and-counting video ringtone library. Moreover, users can transform the files into their personal call signatures.

The owners of Sony Ericsson Walkman phones will be able to connect to Vringo through the link that is displayed in their phones’ Web browser. The link will allow users to download the application to their devices so that they are able to immediately share video ringtones with their phone contacts.
