The elegant way to attach HDDs to your computer

It seems like those days when you had to open the case of your computer just to hook up your neighbor's HDD are dead and gone, or will soon be, thanks to nifty gadgets like the Voyager Q. This device can come in very handy for those who are looking for the easiest and safest ways to transfer large amounts of data and do not have a portable HDD, or simply have to work with a lot of HDDs. The Voyager Q is a docking system for your hard disk drives, allowing you to boot and swap drives at will, sparing you all the efforts of shutting down your machine, opening the case, and so on.

One of the neatest features of the Voyager Q is that it acts like a very useful bridge between your disk drives and computers, providing no less than 4 different interfaces.

You can “convert” your HDDs in eSATA (up to 300MB/s), FireWire 800 (up to 100MB/s), FireWire 400 (up to 50MB/s), or USB 2.0 (up to 60MB/s). Moreover, the Voyager Q works equally fine with both Mac and PC computers, being easy to set up and use in just a few minutes. Another feature that increases the versatility of this HDD docking station is that it can accommodate both 3.5'' and 2.5'' hard drives, SATA I and SATA II, with a maximal capacity of 2 TB.

The Voyager Q sports an HDD eject lever and two indicator LED lights. Furthermore, its hot swapping ability will save you precious time, while simultaneously making manipulating HDDs a lot safer. There could be one minor setback for this contraption, and that's its design: the Voyager Q looks very much like a toaster, especially when a 3.5'' hard drive is docked.

However, if you have no problems with such a thing, then you could think more seriously about spending around $100 on this cool HDD dock, especially as it comes with all the needed cables in the box. More specs and details can be found here.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
