Mobile phone carrier Vodafone UK announced recently that today its customers are offered the possibility to download up to 5 free eBooks to their handsets. According to the wireless operator, this is the last offer in a series of Free Fridays is has put in place for its users, providing them with free mobile Internet and free music during the last day of the week.

According to the service provider, among the books that are available for a free download, we can count 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,' the fist in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, which has already enjoyed global success and which is expected to become one of the biggest films of 2010. 'Twenties Girl' by Sophie Kinsella, 'The Murder of King Tut' by James Patterson, 'The Bleeding City' by Alex Preston and 'Alice in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll are also included in the list.

“In addition, customers downloading 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' e-book on 12 March will be automatically entered into a draw to win an exclusive private screening of the film adaptation, which also launches on 12th March. The prize includes tickets for the winner and up to 50 of their friends, as long as they’re over 18, to see the film at a UK cinema of their choice,” the carrier also notes.

Vodafone UK points out that customers who will download all five books on their handsets will be able to save £37.96 against the normal price that is available via the Vodafone eBooks service. The carrier notes that books are priced starting at £1 and that customers can choose from hundreds of them, including the latest blockbusters, business titles, or the old classics.

At the moment, 28 handsets are supported by the e-book service, including the Nokia 5800, BlackBerry Storm and Vodafone 360 Samsung H1 and M1, but the carrier plans on adding even more to the list. Those interested in the offer should check on the carrier's website to see whether their handset is compatible with the service or not, where they will find details on how to download the free eBooks (something that can be learned from the video below too).
