HTC Sensation, the high-end Android-based smartphone that HTC Corporation made official on Tuesday, is expected to become available for purchase in several European markets in the not-too-distant future, on the airwaves of wireless carrier Vodafone.

The carrier was mentioned at HTC Sensation's launch event, and it has already listed the smartphone on its website in the UK.

Those users in the country interested in purchase of the new device can already head over to the wireless carrier's website to register for updates on the matter.

Vodafone UK did not offer a specific release date for the device as of yet, but previous reports suggested that HTC would aim at making it available in May.

The HTC Sensation comes to the market with a dual-core 1.2GHz application processor inside, and with a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display that boasts a qHD resolution (960 x 540 pixel).

On the back, the new device comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper, with LED flash and HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a front-facing camera for video calling.

“You can also take great photos of the trip with the Sensation's 8 megapixel rear-facing camera. The LED flash means shots after dark come out clearly, while face detection automatically focuses on everyone's faces when you're snapping away,” Vodafone notes on its website.

“And with geotagging, you can easily remember where each shot was taken. Then when you want to catch up with everyone after you're back home, you can chat face-to-face with them by using the Sensation's 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera.”

The HTC Sensation sports 4GB of internal memory, complemented by the microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (an 8GB card included in the package).

The mobile phone is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, on top of which users would enjoy the new HTC Sense, which sports a live lockscreen.

The HTC Sensation can be seen listed on Vodafone UK's website here.
