Unveiled in Europe several months ago, Vodafone Smart is a low-end Android smartphone manufactured by Huawei.

According to the guys over at AndroidOS.in, the smartphone is expected to be launched in India by the end of September.

Although the carrier has yet to announce the phone's price, rumors has it the Vodafone Smart will be available for purchase for around Rs. 6-7,000 (about $130-$150).

In this regard, Vodafone is selling the Vodafone Smart in Europe for a suggested retail price of €90.

It appears that this is the second carrier-branded smartphone launched by Vodafone in India, the first being Webbox.

It is unclear if Vodafone will launch the smartphone under the same name or will use a different moniker more suitable for the Indian market.

Vodafone Smart is powered by Google Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system, and allows users access to the full Android experience, including the Android Market, Gmail, Google Maps and Google Talk instant messaging.

Furthermore, the smartphone sports a 2-megapixel camera, a rather small 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display as well as 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The phone is under-equipped as it embeds a low-performance 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor.

However, Vodafone Smart provides users with an appealing Android experience via social-networking apps and multimedia features.

The European version of the phone comes in two colors schemes (black and white), which might be available in the Indian market as well.

Fortunately, the carrier offers users the chance to change the look of their Vodafone Smart devices via additional back covers with various graphic designs.

In addition, customers will be able to personalize their phones by creating their own covers on the web.

The handset comes pre-loaded with direct links to key content and features including Facebook, Twitter, email, Vodafone’s ‘Prepay Manager’, Vodafone Music and the ‘Updates’ widget, the carrier claims.
