14 DAY TRIAL // Vodafone Italy customers who are using an iPhone smartphone will be able to take advantage of the first ever free-navigation application in the Italian market, Vodafone Find & Go
Powered by Telmap, a well-known provider of GPS-based software and related technologies, the application offers both in-car and pedestrian navigation.
The carrier will provide all prepaid and post-paid iPhone users with the free navigation application, Vodafone Find & Go, starting this week. However, Vodafone Find & Go won't be free unless the iPhone user purchases a data package.
“We are confident that this partnership will flourish and expand over time, and in the near future we plan on adding more local content that's relevant to the Italian market, starting with real time traffic and speed cameras information, for an even richer, more valuable user experience,” said Oren Nissim, Telmap CEO.
According to the developer, the application will enable users to search and access up-to-date location-based information, such as point of interests or different locations in Italy.
In addition, Vodafone Find & Go provides iPhone users with real-time turn-by-turn navigation with 3D moving maps, voice and text instructions announcing street names, dedicated pedestrian navigation, local search and content.
Vodafone Italy is expected to improve and expand the all-in-one navigation solution by adding access to additional content providers, devices and mobile platforms.
While this might hint to an upcoming launch of an Android version of the application, the carrier hasn't disclosed any release dates for the moment.
Vodafone Find & Go is fully compatible with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 devices and requires iOS 3.0 or later, as well as 4 MB storage space.
Even though the carrier stated that it would provide the application through its own channels, Vodafone Find & Go is also available as a free download from the App Store.
