“Disaster recovery and business continuity is critical whether you work in a huge multinational or a regular small business – having access to data in the event of an unexpected outage will save an organization thousands if not millions of dollars, so compromising cannot be an option,” Devang Kothari, product manager, Vizioncore, said. “vReplicator 3.0 provides affordable technology that many businesses most likely thought out of reach with their IT budgets, and not only that, actually matches or exceeds the expectations of even the largest corporate. We’re pleased to offer cutting-edge technology that we’ve worked hard to develop this year and feel confident our customers will be equally pleased with the multitude of efficiency and cost gains that vReplicator enables.”

The vReplicator 3.0 is an overhaul of the vReplicator, a technology that helps administrators meet short recovery-time objectives (RTOs) through its Advanced Replication Engine. This overhaul was done by means of a cutting-edge, patent-pending technology. At the vReplicato 3.0's core lies the Active Block Mapping (ABM) and the Change Block Tracking (CBT) technologies.

These two improve data transfer by replicating only changed blocks of data, not concerning themselves with the so-called 'white space,' which is responsible for lag. This feature improves replication time and provides greater reliability to the overall system.

The previous version of the vReplicator, the vReplicator 2.5, is already being used by Menzies Aviation because of its simplicity and granularity in VM replication tasks. “Judging from our initial experiences with vReplicator 3.0, we are looking forward to faster replications through the Active Block Mapping and Change Black Tracking functionality. Faster replications at a low cost make vReplicator an ideal solution for Menzies Aviation,” Justin Apps, IT systems architect at Menzies Aviation, explained.

What is especially notable about this latest revision is the fact that the Asynchronous Data Transfer can be used to improve performance on production systems, no matter the location of the target site (including intercontinental distances). Finally, as a perk, unlike many array-based solutions currently available, the vReplicator works on all VMs and at a much lower TCO (total cost of ownership), thus being affordable for businesses of all sizes.
