The rumor mill has been quite hotly spurting out information related to Vivo’s upcoming X5 Pro. Vivo is a pretty well-known Chinese device maker that has become notorious due to the fact that some of its products are advertised as bundling some pretty wild specs.

But to be fair, Vivo deserves its reputation, as it was among the first phone makers to actually launch a smartphone with a QHD display on the market.

Anyway, this week, the company has finally taken the opportunity to make its Vivo X5 Pro flagship official and we are here to talk about it a little bit.

The handset can’t actually be considered a high-end device, as it is more of a mid-ranger, but as we have witnessed lately, phones from this category have a tendency to come with better and better specs. As is the case with the X5 Pro.

Say hello to Vivo X5 Pro

The brand new handset arrives with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED FHD display (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution), so if you were hoping to see a more advanced QHD panel, we’re sorry to burst your bubble right now.

The display on the phone employs 2.5D glass technology, which is used to create a bezeless screen illusion, as Vivo is trying to follow today’s smartphone trend and offer a device with almost invisible bezels.

On the inside, the X5 Pro takes advantage of an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

On the imaging front, Vivo has probably taken cues from HTC by adding a front-facing 8MP camera that can interpolate images to 32MP. The main camera is of 13MP capacity and is protected by a sapphire glass. Fancy!

But the most interesting part comes now: apparently, the selfie camera arrives with eye recognition technology that will allow users to keep their info and data safe.

Other specifications include dual-SIM option, 4G LTE and a 2300 mAh battery. The smartphone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with the FunTouch OS 3.0 interface plastered on top.

Vivo X5 Pro has an aluminum build and a metal frame around the body. Some users might be a little disappointed by the fact that Vivo didn't add a fingerprint sensor to its new flagship, but such are the ways of phone making.

Vivo hasn't shared any specifics regarding availability dates, but we’re told the device will go on sale for $443 / €389.
