The smartphone is much thicker than the original model

Chinese OEM Vivo has just announced another version of their flagship smartphone, the X5 Max, which comes with a larger battery.

When the handset makers launched its Vivo X5 Max, the smartphone was the sleekest on the market at only 4.75mm, but that prevented the company from adding a larger battery.

That's why the Vivo X5 Max is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery, which might not be enough for the powerful octa-core processor and large 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display (thank God it's not Quad HD).

The new Vivo X5 Max Platinum Edition drops the sleekness in favor of a much larger battery, so those who were holding back from buying it due to its 2,000 battery should reconsider getting the phone.

Get at thicker version, but with better battery

In that regard, the Platinum Edition version of Vivo X5 Max is 7.2mm thick, but packs a much better 4,150 mAh battery, a new report confirms.

The rest of the phone's specs seems to be similar with those of the original model, which means it sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, as well as 4G LTE support.

Vivo X5 Max Platinum Edition is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, which is complemented by a Mali-T760 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

The smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

On the back, the X5 Max Platinum Edition packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing options and availability, but we suspect more details will emerge in the coming days so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
