Along with Windows Developer Preview and Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview, Microsoft is also offering early adopters looking to start building applications for Windows 8 a taste of the next generation of Visual Studio Team Foundation Server.

Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 11 Developer Preview is available for download from the Redmond company, free of charge, just as the rest of the Developer Preview releases that the software giant unveiled at BUILD.

Testers can either go for the Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 11 Developer Preview - Web Installer or for Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 11 Developer Preview. Both downloads are quite consistent, so devs might want to plan ahead.

“Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 11 Developer Preview is the collaboration platform at the core of the Microsoft Application Lifecycle Management suite of tools, which helps teams be more agile, collaborate more effectively, and deliver better software faster,” the software giant reveals.

Developers need to keep in mind that both Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview and Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 11 Developer Preview should be deployed exclusively in testing environments.

The next versions of Windows and Visual Studio are of course still in development, and there’s a lot more work to be done before they’re ready for release.

“Team Foundation Server 11 Developer Preview is a pre-release version of Team Foundation Server, and should not be used in production scenarios,” the Redmond company recommends.

.NET Framework 4.5 Developer Preview is integrated with both Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview and Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 11 Developer Preview, and as such, testers are not required to deploy it by leveraging the standalone download provided by Microsoft.

“This release is designed to showcase updates and improvements made since Team Foundation Server 2010, and provides an opportunity for developers to use and provide feedback before the final release,” the company said.

“This pre-release software will expire June 30th, 2012. To continue using Team Foundation Server 11 Developer Preview after that date, you will need to install a later version,” Microsoft noted.
