Microsoft is offering current users of either Visual Studio 2008 or Visual Studio 2010 comprehensive discounts to add an MSDN subscription to VS and access all the solutions available via its developer hub.

The software giant set up a website designed to focus on the new promotion, advertising price cuts of up to 35% for those that buy Visual Studio 2010 with MSDN.

Devs already know that MSDN subscriptions don’t exactly come cheap, and in this regard, they might want to take advantage of the discounts offered by the Redmond company.

“For a limited time, existing Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2010 users are eligible for 35% off of Visual Studio 2010 Professional with MSDN or 15% off of Visual Studio 2010 Premium with MSDN,” the Redmond company said.

“This offer is available worldwide from October 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012 and is available only through certain Microsoft Volume Licensing programs.”

CDW, Dell, Insight, SoftChoice and Software House International (SHI) are among the resellers, but there are also other companies offering the special deal.

Developers do need to read the fine print, as not all of them will be eligible for the discount.

According to Microsoft, customers need to already own Visual Studio 2008 Professional or Visual Studio 2010 Professional.

In addition, they’re also required to have already subscribed to MSDN, with their subscriptions expired prior to July 1, 2011. At the same time, active Visual Studio Professional with MSDN subscription qualify users for upgrades via the Visual Studio Premium with MSDN promo.

“Attaching an MSDN subscription to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 conveniently and cost-effectively gives you comprehensive access to the Microsoft development platform, tools, and resources to build high-quality applications for the Web, Mobile, Cloud, and Windows,” Microsoft said.

Developers interested in kicking up a notch Visual Studio 2010 with MSDN, will have access to no less than 12,000 examples of technologies, support, beta releases and even Windows Azure.
