.NET 4 RTM is, of course, available completely free of charge, and the same can be said for the trail versions of VS2010 RTM. At the same time, beginner developers can take advantage of Visual Studio 2010 Express, which, just as prior Express editions, is completely free, and in no way time-bombed. Still, the combination of a trial version of VS2010 along with the training kit is bound to be enough to help devs decide whether the new platform is an investment worth their while. And those just starting along can grab the Express edition, and begin to put together basic projects, with the help of the training resources.
