Designer uses a CT scanner to produce the animal skull models

A few years ago, you probably wouldn't have thought that CT scans would be used to make trinkets, but here we are, and it's all the fault of 3D printing technology.

Dr. Scott Camazine has posted a new project on the Kickstarter crowd-funding website.

Basically, he is offering to 3D print miniature animal skulls and ship them to you.

Well, not quite. He's actually making silicon moulds made from his metal masters for lost wax casting.

The 3D printed models will be sent to a local foundry where the small animal skulls will be cast in bronze, brass, sterling silver and even 14K gold.

Scott has already exceeded his funding goal of $4,000 / €2,950, but you still have time to make a pledge and, thus, get an animal skull pendant of your own, if you're into such things.

Each skull ships with an 18-inch chain (457 mm).
