Virgin Media TiVo customers who would like to take advantage of the cloud-based Virgin TV Anywhere service on their smartphones and tablet PCs running under Google’s Android operating system can now do so.

The Virgin TV Anywhere mobile client specifically designed for devices running under Google’s operating system is now available for download.

The mobile client can be installed on all smartphones running under Android 2.3 to 4.3, as well as on tablet PCs that are powered by Android 4.0 to 4.3 platform releases.

Unfortunately, the app is not available for Android 4.4 KitKat devices as of now, and some users might see issues with it when streaming live channels in home mode, the company notes.

Furthermore, users should know that Virgin TV Anywhere won’t work on rooted devices, “for security reasons and to protect the rights of our content partners,” Virgin Media explains.

Aside from that, Android users should be able to access the entire set of channels made available for them, which now includes nine more entries, namely Alibi, Dave, Drama, Good Food, Home, Really, Watch, Yesterday, and CBS Reality.

To enjoy the service, users will have to head over to the Google Play store to download the new mobile client, and they should have their My Virgin Media username and password at hand to provide them when asked.

The application “lets you watch live TV, wherever you connect to WiFi in the UK, on selected Android mobile phones and tablets,” the app’s description reads.

“What’s more, you can manage your recordings on the move, as well as search, browse, discover and share what you’re watching on 3G/4G mobile connection or with WiFi. Plus, you can use it at home as a clever remote control.”

The app also allows Virgin Media customers to use their Android devices as a remote control for the TiVo box, enabling them to browse and delete recordings, browse the TV guide, set recordings & Series links for TV shows & movies, and do more.
