Two high-end Android-based phones

The Android flood in the UK continues, with Virgin Mobile becoming yet another wireless carrier in the country to have the HTC Desire and Sony Ericsson X10 listed on its website. The two phones are available for purchase for free from the company, on 24-month plans, of course, with the former priced this way on a £30.00 per month plan, while the latter goes free with a £35.00 per month contract.

For what it's worth, Virgin Mobile's customers will certainly be able to enjoy two of the most appealing mobile phones that landed on the market until now with Google's Android operating system on board. Both high-end devices, boasting 1GHz processors inside, and including large touchscreen display, they should soon prove great options for users in the UK, even if the Desire runs under Android 2.1, while Sony Ericsson's X10 packs only the older Android 1.6 inside.

On the specs side, we should note that Desire comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper, 512MB of internal memory, coupled with a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity options, as well as GPS receiver and a Lithium ion Polymer battery, all inside a device that measures 119x60x11.9mm. As for the Sony Ericsson X10, it sports a 4-inch touchscreen display, an 8.1-megapixel camera, 1GB of internal memory and microSD memory card with support for 16GB cards, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and more. Both HTC Desire and Sony Ericsson X10 come with enhanced support for Google's services, while also including their makers' own user interfaces. Desire sports the HTC Sense solution, which is already popular around the world, while X10 comes with a UX formerly known as Rachael, and packs two special applications from Sony Ericsson, the Timescape and Mediascape.
