Here’s how you can make sense of “Avengers: Age of Ultron”

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” plays out like the middle act of a larger project and that’s because, with it, Marvel wanted to make it clearer than before that Phase 3 of their Marvel Cinematic Universe was about to begin. So they had to plant all the seeds for the upcoming films.

This in itself isn’t a bad thing but it can be confusing, even for the fans who have kept up with all the releases and who know that every one of them was like a piece of a puzzle. Marvel has been working very hard to build MCU, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the video below.

It’s a Verge video explaining the entire MCU in 13 minutes, with the inclusion of the “Incredible Hulk” movie with Edward Norton that everyone wants to forget was made, and last summer’s smashing hit “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

It leads up to the events of “Ultron,” which it doesn’t spoil, so you’re safe if you haven’t seen it yet. It’s probably the best, if occasionally inaccurate, presentation of a comic-based movie universe that brings together the most powerful and popular superheroes, and talent to match from Hollywood, from the actors to the directors and the CGI guys.

Nothing is random in MCU, everything happens for a good reason. As the video says at one point, the reason is money the big story arc fans are familiar with from the comic books.

Check it out.
