If you’re older than 25, you too must have grown up to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s rap music and especially his “Baby Got Back,” the monster hit released in 1992 that got everyone, from your pals to Rachel and Ross on “Friends,” singing along and dancing to it.

Well, for the nostalgic in you, here’s a new take on “Baby Got Back,” made possible by the Seattle Symphony through their Sonic Evolution project: it’s still the same song, but the music is performed by the famous orchestra, which adds a classical spin to it.

The video below shows the rapper performing it and, because the song goes better with some visual representation, he also asked women in the audience to come up on stage during the number.

He tried to play it coy about his presence there, but he couldn’t fool them. It’s amazing how many of them went up and even more amazing is how much fun they had. I’m talking to you, lady in a black dress, feeling every word of the song.

The Sonic Evolution project aims to create “a bridge between the Symphony and Seattle's storied reputation as launching pad for some of the most creative musicians on the popular music scene,” the description of the video informs. “Each year, in celebration of the past, present and future of our city's musical legacy, Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony commission world-class composers to write orchestral world premieres inspired by bands and artists that launched from, or are related to, Seattle.”

This collaboration is one to note down in history books, but you don’t have to take my word for it: watch it and see for yourself. I for one can’t remember the last time I grinned this much at my computer screen. Enjoy!
