Rebecca Black has set a worrying precedent with her “Friday”

If you’re in the mood for some quality music, I’m afraid I have to admit that this is the wrong place to be right now. Above is a “single” from another aspiring, viral wannabe singer called Nicole Westbrook: “It’s Thanksgiving.”

Safe to say, Rebecca Black has set a very worrying precedent with her “Friday” viral.

Just in case you don’t know who Black is (lucky you!), I will exemplify the “brilliance” of “It’s Thanksgiving” with a verse lifted from it: “Can’t be hateful, gotta be grateful/ Mashed potatoes, on my table.”

That’s poetry.

All criticism aside, Nicole is probably not to blame for this. If you feel like this song is an attack on the ears and the very notion of music, you can blame her producer, Patrice Wilson, who happens to be the same guy who came up with “Friday.”

No one knows yet who’s responsible for the idea that Nicole would be much cooler in the vid if she sang on a turkey drumstick in lieu of a proper microphone.

On a final note, don’t hate on her, I used to be thankful too when school was out. Re-pre-sent!
