Vine hasn't been updating its Windows Phone application for quite a while. However, the Android and iOS versions have been regular updates that brought new features and improvements.

Unfortunately, this is not out of ordinary for Windows Phone users. Most are probably used to receiving updates long after they have been released on other mobile platforms.

This seems to be the case with Vine, which does not seem so interested in keeping its Windows phone application up to date and on the same level of development with Android and iOS.

The good news is a new version of Vine is now available for download via Windows Phone Store and it's not just a minor update that adds minor improvements and bug fixes.

Developers have even announced the contents of this update on their official blog. This provides us with accurate information on what changes the latest version of Vine for Windows Phone brings into the mix.

First of all, developers confirmed that they have implemented new camera tools. Users will now be able to import video from their camera via capture screen, simply by tapping a new icon place in the bottom left corner.

Also, Windows Phone users will now be able to edit their Vine by reorganizing clips or removing those they don't plan to use. Last but not least, Vine users can save their drafts, so they can come back to them later.

Some visual changes have been implemented, too

With Vine messages, users can now share Vines with their friends in a private manner. You will only need to tap the new Messages icon at the top right to send a VM and see what's been sent to you. Text messages can be sent too.

Loop counts is a feature that's been available to Android and iOS users since July 2014. Starting this week, Windows Phone users will be able to see how many times people have watched a Vine loop.

The Activity feed has been redesigned as well. For example, the new milestone tab will allow users to see when they are getting a lot of activity on their Vines. In addition, they will also be able to learn when their friends join Vines.

Another new feature introduced in this version of Vine is “profile colors,” which provides users with the option to customize their profile by picking a color from Settings.

You can now download Vine for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. Keep in mind that the application is only compatible with devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1.
