The millions of Vine users will be thrilled to know that developers have just added a new feature that will enhance their overall experience with the application consistently.

The new feature is called Vine Messages and allows users to privately send and receive both Vine videos and texts to other people (friends). According to the developers, users will be able to find the new feature under “Messages” in the action bar or swipe left from home.

Here is how you can take advantage of the new feature provided by the good folks at Vine: “to create your own Vine message (VM), select the new “Messages” option in the navigation menu, record a video and send it to your friends.”

But there’s more to it, as Vine has confirmed that, with the latest version of their Android and iOS application, users will be able to send a VM to multiple people.

According to the developers, each conversation is one-to-one, so if a Vine user wishes to send a video to let’s say three friends, then they will have to start three separate conversations.

To make things easier, Vine split the messages inbox into two sections: Friends (people you know) and Other (people outside your network). You can turn off the Other inbox from the Setting menu in case you only wish to receive messages from the people you follow or know.

It is also worth mentioning that developers state that users will be able to send video messages to users that are not even on Vine: “now you can privately send Vine videos and text messages to your friends. You can even send videos to anyone in your address book, even if they aren’t on Vine.”

Aside from this new major feature, Vine has announced that users will be able to customize their profile with colors. Simply go to Settings to view and select a profile color, which should be visible to other Vine users.

Last but not least, the official changelog mentions that the update adds some bug fixes and performance improvements, but no additional details have been provided.

However, the developers mention on their blog that a couple of other features they didn’t list in the changelog are available as well.

Those who already have the application installed on their devices should check for the update via Google Play Store, whereas new users can now download Vine for Android 2.0.0 for free via Softpedia. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with most devices powered by Android 2.3 and up.
