Featuring two of Intel's quad-core powerhorses

Boutique system integrator Vigor has introduced a new killing machine to fuel the gamers' need for computing power. Thought you were a lame gamer because of the limited amount of horsepower your rig could deliver? Take a ride into the new dual-quad-core offering from Vigor and see it for yourself.

The Colossus gaming rig is the most powerful product ever released by Vigor, and it's easy to understand why. The machine sports two 3.2 Ghz Core 2 Extreme QX9775 quad-core processors, but if they're not enough, don't panic: you can always use vigor's complementary overclocking service to squeeze even more performance.

The two processors are seated on Intel's D5400XS motherboard that's also the guest star in the Skulltrail gaming platform. This means that the gaming system will work with multi-GPU configurations. Users can stuff inside the gaming monster up to four graphics cards to drive two displays running at a blaring resolution of 2,560 by 1,600-pixel.

The Colossus comes with a default configuration including 4 GB of RAM, over 2 TB of storage set to work as RAID 0, a 1000 Watt power supply, and two overclocked Nvidia GeForce 8800GT graphics cards. However, a fully-configured Vigor Gaming Colossus PC includes two Western Digital Raptor 150 Hard Drives, two AMD Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics cards, 8GB of fully-buffered DDR2 800 memory, high-fidelity audio Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi, as well as other high-end hardware, but pricing would go up to $8100. However, if you are pleased with the default configuration, it would cost you about $6,800.

The Colossus is packed with a 3-year limited warranty for the parts. The system integrator also offers two promotions with its desktop systems, that lets the user choose between free Logitech gaming peripherals, free shipping, or instant rebates.
