Back at MWC 2011, we've had the chance to take a very close look at ViewSonic's ViewPad 10 dual-boot tablet, and now, it seems that the device is finally going on sale.

As some of you will certainly remember, while visiting ViewSonic's Mobile World Congress 2011 booth, we were briefly introduced to this dual-booting marvel, that relies mostly on the Windows 7 operating system for getting some work done, and employs the Android 1.6 OS as some sort of fast-boot or Instant OS.

To be perfectly honest, while the idea is quite clearly a very interesting one, the fact that ViewSonic has decided to go for Android 1.6, one of the least-developed and stable versions of Android, is somewhat of a serious shortcoming, one that they'll hopefully sort out on the future.

Anyway, back to the ViewPad 10, we'll have to mention that it packs an impressive 10.1-inch touchscreen, featuring a LED backlight system (that will certainly help save some battery life), as well as a fairly OK resolution, of around 1024 x 600 pixels, enabling users to enjoy good-quality content while being on the go.

At the core of the ViewPad 10 we'll encounter an Intel Atom CPU running at 1.66 GHz, accompanied by 2GB of memory, as well as a SSD unit.

Moreover, ViewSonic's also added plenty of connectivity and networking options to the mix, including here built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, plus an SD memory card slot supporting memory cards up to 32GB.

Pricing for ViewSonic's ViewPad 10 dual-boot tablet depends specifically on the operating systems it comes pre-loaded with and the amount of storage it provides, the model that pairs Android 1.6 with Windows 7 Home Premium and a 16GB SSD unit selling for 600 US dollars, while the version that offers a 32GB SSD drive and Windows 7 Professional is priced at $679.
