ViewSonic may have been working on a new all-in-one system with touch support, but the same announcement also introduced a touch-enabled monitor, one dubbed VX2258wm.

With all the Full HD monitors coming out, ViewSonic figured it would differentiate its offer by providing a wider feature set.

In this case, the new monitor can be seen as less than common, though not at all unique, through its use of a panel that supports multi-touch input.

It has a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and can produce crystal clear images, as the company calls them, thanks to the dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000:1 (1,000:1 contrast ratio).

It also has a typical brightness of 200 cd/m2 and a response time of 5ms, plus a widescreen aspect ratio and integrated speakers with SRS Premium Sound.

What's more, the company threw in USB connectivity in addition to D-Sub and DVI, not to mention that it has been given EPEAT Silver certification and Energy Star 5.0 rating.

In fact, the product boasts the ECO feature, which can actually help it consume up to 30% less energy on average.

“Businesses and consumers alike are engaging with more touch interactive applications,” said Sally Wang, senior director of product marketing, ViewSonic.

“To address this need, ViewSonic has announced two new multi-touch solutions to enhance the computing experience. The VX2258wm is our first touch screen, energy-efficient monitor display,” Wang added.

For those that own an actual audio system, a 3.5mm audio in/out jack will let them use it instead of the built-in speakers.

Finally, ViewSonic decided upon an ergonomic design with swivel and tilt functions, so that one may find the viewing angle that most suits their needs, while a VESA mount can get it to end up on a wall as well.

Those interested in buying the 22-inch VX2258wm monitor will have to part with $339
