Two new Android-based tablet PCs were just announced as being set to make an appearance on the market in Australia, namely the ViewSonic ViewPad 7 and ViewPad 10. Viewsonic Australia plans on making them available for AUD $699 and AUD $799, respectively.

The two slates sport different touchscreen displays, namely a 7-inch one for the ViewPad 7, and a 10.1-inch display for the ViewPad 10.

The ViewPad 7 comes to the market with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board, while being powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7227 application processor running at 600MHz. The display on this device boasts a 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

The specifications list of the device includes 512MB of RAM, along with the same amount of ROM, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

We should also note that the slate should offer HSPA 900MHz / 2100MHz connectivity, along with WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 capabilities. It would also sport dual cameras, with a 3MP photo snapper on the back, and a VGA front facing camera.

The second Android tablet PC from ViewSonic sports a 10.1-inch display, while offering dual boot capabilities, pairing Android 1.6 with Windows 7.

Powered by an Intel ATOM 1.66GHz CPU, the slate comes with 512MB of RAM and the same amount of ROM, as well as with 1GB of Internal Memory, and a 16GB SSD. There is also a microSD memory card slot included into the mix, with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The 10-inch display boasts a 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, while the slate includes a 1.3MP Camera, as well as a G-Sensor.

As the guys over at Ausdroid note in a recent article, the new tablets are priced more competitively when compared to the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but it remains to be seen how well they would perform on the market when launched in January 2011.
