DROID 2 Global has just made an appearance on Verizon Wireless' network in the United States, being the latest high-end Android-based device Motorola brought to shelves via this wireless carrier.

Although the mobile phone leaked into the wild many months ago, nothing was announced officially on it up until the very last moment, when the handset was also put on pre-sale at the wireless carrier.

We already had the chance to take a look at most of the hardware specs for this device but, in case there are some who have never met the DROID 2 Global before, they can learn more about it below.

We should begin with the TI OMAP 1.2GHz application processor the new mobile phone packs inside, which sports a dedicated GPU too, and which should go pretty well along with the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system it runs under.

But this is not all, as the handset also sports support for CDMA and GSM networks, so that one would be able to use it when traveling around the world.

The new mobile phone also comes to the market with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, as well as with 3G Mobile Hotspot functionality, with support for up to 5 devices.

The 3.7-inch touchscreen display boasting a WVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution is another appealing feature of DROID 2 Global, and the same applies to its side-sliding QWERTY keyboard.

Other specifications of the new device include a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, face detection, and video recording capabilities.

Moreover, it comes with 8GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (an 8GB card included into the package).

The mobile phone also includes support for a nice range of Google Mobile Services, including Gmail, Search, YouTube, Maps, Latitude and Google Calendar.

Not to mention that Verizon pre-loaded the handset with a series of specific applications, including Skype Mobile, NFL Mobile, Visual Voice Mail, VZ Navigator, V CAST Media Manager, and more.

The Motorola DROID 2 Global can be seen on Verizon's website here, priced at $199.99 on a two-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail in rebate.
