The surveys and studies carried out since the beginning of the year point out an important decrease of video card sales, a normal trend if we consider the "poor" season for hardware component sales.

However, according to the survey carried out by Jon Peddie from Market Watch, the mobile sector has gained an important edge over the desktop sector, and Intel is one of the causes.

The report indicates that in the first quarter, 60.2 million graphic cards have been distributed by the main 8 producers, which represents a 6.2% decrease compared to the result recorded last year. However, every year, this domain has recorded a 5% increase.

However, in the first quarter, ATI has maintained its leading position despite the 9% decrease of the distribution rate.

The report estimates that over 14.6 million graphic processors have been distributed to different partners, which represents a 40.8% increase compared to the first quarter of last year.

For the mobile system market, Intel managed to surpass ATI, with a market share of 50.8%, a considerable increased compared to the 39.5% recorded in the fourth quarter of last year.

These are the top video producers: Intel with 43.1%, ATI 26.1%, Nvidia 17.9%, Via 6.9%, SIS 5.4%, Matrox 0.33%, XGI 0.25%, and 3D Labs/Creative 0.02%.
