Pia Toscano, the American Idol contestant who was voted off last season, much to the outrage of the viewers at home, is launching her music career. The official video for her debut single, the uptempo ballad “This Time,” is now out.

Since the song is about breaking up and breaking free from an ex, and trying to start all over again from the moment he took over, it’s no wonder the video focuses only on Pia.

Her American Idol supporters should be happy to hear (and see: the video is embedded below, at the end of the article) that the video includes images of Pia on the beach, driving a convertible on the open road and basically being her gorgeous self for the camera.

The song doesn’t disappoint and neither does the video: in fact, voices are saying online, it’s just perfect to introduce Pia to non-AI music lovers, who will discover in “This Time” a good venue for Pia’s powerful voice and a beautiful video at the same time.

Speaking of her experience on the popular Fox show, Pia recently wrote on her WhoSay account about how much she’d changed since the day she auditioned for American Idol, on August 3, 2010.

“Exactly 1 year ago, I was just your average girl with a dream.. I decided to chase that dream with the support of my family. My father took the day off of work and waited patiently in line with me and over 10,000 other people for the American Idol audition,” the singer said.

“My life has drastically changed in just a year. Never give up! Thank you American Idol for changing my life, and thank you mommy and daddy for believing in me :) August 3, 2010.. The day that changed my life,” she added.

Below is the video for Pia Toscano’s single “This Time.” She’s truly come a long way.
