Mariah Carey has always had a thing for gorgeous beaches and beautiful scenery, which is also obvious in her just released video for “H.A.T.E.U.,” the third single off her latest album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” Directed by Brett Ratner, a longtime Mariah collaborator, the video sees the singer wondering alone on the beach, while obviously in pain after a breakup.

There is not much to say about the story of the video for “H.A.T.E.U.” but that’s not to say that it’s not wonderfully shot and edited, fans say. All the images show Mariah, first in a black silk swimsuit and then a white one, more elaborately cut, wondering alone on the beach, telling the camera and thus the viewer of her sorrows.

There is a certain feel that the entire video has no other function than to show Mariah in a swimsuit and thus allow her to properly flaunt her gorgeous body, but not even that can ruin the beauty of it. For one thing, fans say on dedicated forums and websites hosting the video, the singer truly seems to be feeling the disappointment and heartbreak contained in the words of the song, and that serves as a distraction from the fact that there is no story to it to begin with.

“‘H.A.T.E.U.' is the third single taken from Mariah’s latest studio project called ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.’ Its official remix is produced by Jermaine Dupri and features additional verses from OutKast’s Big Boi, Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman. ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ was released in September this year and could only debut at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 200 with 168,000 units. The album will be re-worked and is expected to come out in February 2010. Swizz Beatz and Christopher ‘Tricky’ Stewart will step behind the production desks, while the likes of Trey Songz, R. Kelly and T-Pain will lend their vocal,” AceShowbiz informs.

Undoubtedly, coming out with videos like this one will also help bring back attention on the album, which has been mostly overlooked, especially if compared to how Mariah’s previous materials fared in terms of sales. Then again, that is something that only time will tell. Below is the entire video: watch and judge for yourselves.
