Rapper releases most personal song and video to date

In what can only be his most personal song yet, Lil Wayne turns the tables on myself and exposes his bare soul to his audience. The video for “Mirror,” a collaboration with Bruno Mars, is just as personal.

See it in full above.

The clip sees Lil Wayne and Bruno splashing paint around in a studio. At the end, the rapper seems to have created a portrait of himself: high up nailed on a cross, with a microphone in one hand.

To push the religious symbolism even further, also at the end of the video, Lil Wayne has red paint (blood) on his hands and underneath the ribcage.

He sings face to the camera, hands spread apart, in a Jesus-like position. The image is used to signify solitude, if we're to consider the lyrics as well.

“I see the pain hidden in your pride. I see you’re not satisfied. And I don’t see nobody else, I see myself,” he sings to himself in one verse.
