One of the great features that the new Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship handset has been announced with last week in Barcelona is support for 4K video recording, and you can now see it in action, courtesy of a new clip that appeared online.

The smartphone is set to become available for purchase only next month, yet some people have already got the chance to grab units for testing purposes, and one of them has posted the aforementioned video online.

The clip will provide you with a glimpse not only at the manner in which Galaxy S5 can shoot in 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), but also at the phone’s capabilities to focus when zooming in or when in motion.

As SamMobile notes, 4K video recording is expected to be standard in high-end smartphones that will arrive on shelves this year, providing users with great imaging capabilities while on the go.

However, it should also be noted that the feature will require a great deal of free memory on a smartphone, given that 1 minute of recording in 4K (at 30fps) eats up around 1GB of space.

Galaxy S5 was announced in 16GB and 32GB versions, but it also comes with a microSD memory card slot and can accommodate up to 128GB of additional storage space, which should be quite enough for taking full advantage of said capability.

Support for such high-definition recording is possible due to the latest-generation Qualcomm processor that Galaxy S5 was announced with, namely a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 CPU.

The handset comes with a great deal of other appealing features as well, including a 5.1-inch full HD touchscreen display (many of us were undoubtedly dreaming of a 2K screen on this phone) and a perforated back plate pattern, which should ensure better grip.

The smartphone also pack 2GB of RAM inside, a 16-megapixel camera on the back, and a front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Moreover, it was unveiled with the entire usual set of connectivity capabilities inside, as well as with a 2800mAh battery that also features special power saving capabilities, so as to offer longer usage time even when running out of juice.

Samsung Galaxy S5 runs under Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and sports Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI loaded on top, with a nice range of exclusive applications and software features included. Specific info on its pricing will be unveiled only close to its availability next month.
