A man claiming to have survived spontaneous internal combustion has spoken out in an interview on the Science Channel.

Frank Baker describes fire spreading through his body and the feeling of burning in flames during an episode of "The Unexplained Files" airing today, October 2.

He is a decorated war veteran with two purple hearts received for his work in Vietnam. His touch with death was reported in June 1995, but he lived to tell the story.

According to his rendition of the events, he was not stressed out or in pain before the combustion.

"We were getting ready for fishing and we were sitting on the couch the day before the derby. [...] Everything was great. [Friend] Pete [Willey] was sitting next to me [and] we were having a helluva time," Baker describes.

His friend, Pete, had a rifle in his hand while sitting next to him. That was the moment when they both noticed the flames and started panicking.

"It was the damndest thing I've ever seen. [...] Frank was freaking out and making me freak out," witness Pete Willey recalls.

"I was in sheer panic," Baker says.

While being "petrified," Baker put out the blaze, with Willey's help. They noticed that there was no fire around them, nor was there smoke, heat, or even light.

"All that was coming in was the sun from the farther end of the house," he mentions.

The medical report received after the incident startled Baker even more, as he was told that his body had caught on fire from the inside.

"The doctor called, and said, 'Frank, this burned from the inside out'," he describes.

"I had no idea what was taking place on my body – none," he says. His case has been dubbed one of partial spontaneous human combustion.
