We finally get some news in the case of the Kanye West assault from last week. Despite the fact that no formal accusations were made to actually link Kanye with the incident, it is said the the teen who was assaulted has now approached the artist's camp and is seeking unspecified sums of money to settle out of court.

No actual numbers have been set on the negotiating table, but TMZ claims that the figure is somewhere in the neighborhood of several hundred thousands of dollars, meaning the unnamed 18-year-old is looking to seriously cash in on his attack.

The victim is firmly convinced that he doesn't want to go to trial, which is a bit of a shocker, because, in such cases, you'd expect the victim to defend the case in court. The only possible reason why you wouldn't want to go to court is if you thought your case wouldn't hold up in front of a judge.

The entire matter was spurred by an incident whose circumstances are still to be determined. What has transpired in the press is that Kanye jumped to the aid of his fiancée Kim Kardashian as she was being verbally abused by a young man who yelled at her homophobic and racial slurs.

Kanye is said to have jumped the man and pummeled him in a chiropractor's waiting room in LA. The unnamed victim doesn't appear to have any life-threatening injuries, nor are visible marks from the scuffle that could prove the assault.

The high figure being demanded is indicating of the gravity of the situation. If convicted, Kanye will be prosecuted in a criminal trial that could lead to jail time if the judge sees fitting.

Kanye's camp is now in negotiations, probably working on a figure that is acceptable to both parties involved.

Meanwhile, the Kimye couple took some time off and jetted off to France where they visited the Versailles castle, sparking rumors they're shopping for a wedding location.
