Vibration Optical Mouse and Sony Touch Engine Module

Sony's Touch Engine Module launch in 2005, a tactile input device used to manufacture any vibrating gadget, triggered a "vibration fever" which has been materialized this year in the form of a little mouse, a shaking one of course.

The Touch Engine from Sony makes use of piezoelectric vibrators operated using a low voltage electric power source. As a result, this engine can be built in digital cameras, PDAs and so on. Sony has already used it to manufacture SONY UCP-8060, a professional controller device for broadcast stations.

However, the Vibration Optical Mouse has no precise utility, but it costs around $22. It seems it can be used for palm massage in order to relieve the stress.

On the other hand, its features aren't quite impressive. Having the traditional two buttons and a scroll wheel, it resembles to any other optical mouse.

More than that, if used in a vibration mode, the user will not be able to move it on the desktop or point things, the mouse preferring to do only two things at a time, and that's clicking and vibrating.

The Vibration Optical Mouse is compatible with Windows XP, ME, 2000 and 98 versions.

We are now expecting the next device featuring the vibration technology, and, in the meanwhile, all gadget fans are invited to test this new and slightly peculiar mouse.
