Together with the likes of Asus and Sapphire, Vertex3D has also announced the introduction of a new graphics card based on the dual-GPU Radeon HD 6990 design, dubbed the VTX3D HD6990. Vertex3D is the second graphics card brand of the TUL Corporation, the company which also owns PowerColor.

Like all the other Radeon HD 6990 solutions that were announced until now, the VTX3D HD6990 follows to the letter AMD's reference design as well as the stock operating frequencies as the card has its core clocked at 830MHz while the memory works at 1250MHz (5GHz effective).

However, as it’s the case with all the other Antilles solutions, the card can be easily overclocked thanks to a dual-BIOS switch that enables its cores to work at 880MHz.

Cooling is handled by dual vapor chambers, one for each GPU, and the heat is dissipated away from the card by a blower fan that sits right in the middle of the HD 6990.

This design was chosen since it allows for better VRM cooling as the programmable Volterra regulator chips used can get pretty hot in operation considering that the card was built in order to handle a maximum TDP of 450W.

The card can drive up to five monitors as it comes equipped with a dual-link DVI video output as well as with four mini-DisplayPort connectors.

Fortunately, Vertex3D has not forgotten about users who want to pair the HD 6990 with an HDMI or regular DisplayPort screen and has bundled the card with a wide variety of adapters, including a DVI-to-VGA dongle, a mini-DP to DP cable, dual mini-DP to single-link DVI cables and a mini-DP to HDMI adapter.

The Radeon HD 6990 features 3072 stream processors, 192 texturing units and 64 ROPs as well as dual 256-bit memory buses that are connected to 4GB of video buffer and deliver a total memory bandwidth of 307.2GB/s.
