Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is gearing up for the release of a new set of Android-based devices that will offer support for its 4G LTE network, and the carrier is also considering putting in place a special promotion for its customers through offering them double data for the same money.

Apparently, in preparation for the release of handsets such as Motorola RAZR, the HTC Rezound or the Galaxy Nexus, the wireless carrier will kick off the said promotion for all users who are willing to acquire a data plan.

According to Slashgear, the promotion will start tomorrow, November 8th, 2011, and will be available both for existing and new customers to the wireless carrier.

Basically, it means that all those who have been paying $30 for 2GB of data will be able to enjoy a 4GB data plan for the same amount of money.

Verizon customers who own a My Verizon account will be able to log into their accounts and request the change to the double-data plan.

Most probably, the new promo deal is being put in place for Verizon's customers as the wireless carrier celebrates two years since the release of the very first DROID device.

And there is also the upcoming launch of DROID RAZR on November 11th, or that of HTC Rezound on November 14th. Not to mention that the Galaxy Nexus, the latest Google Phone, is expected to become available for purchase in two weeks' time, on November 21th.

Undoubtedly, all this sounds like a great deal for Verizon's customers, though it remains to be seen whether it will actually determine more of them to sign up for a data plan on the carrier's network.

At the moment, Big Red offers the largest 4G LTE coverage in the United States, and also has in place the widest LTE smartphone offering, with more devices set to become available soon.
