Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has just made available for purchase on its airwaves a new smartphone that would offer its users the possibility to access the advanced speeds its LTE network can offer, namely the LG Revolution.

Officially unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in Early January, the new mobile phone got a release date only yesterday, and is now for sale at the wireless carrier.

The LG Revolution is powered by Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, the same as the other two LTE-capable smartphones at Verizon are, namely the HTC ThunderBolt and the DROID Charge by Samsung.

The new mobile phone comes to the market with a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 800x480 pixels resolution, as well as with a fast 1GHz application processor packed beneath it.

In addition to LTE capabilities, the mobile phone also includes support for the carrier's 3G CDMA network, as well as WiFi IEEE 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth capabilities. It also features WiFi Hotspot capabilities, with support for a number of up to 8 WiFi devices.

“Revolution by LG is a major wow–machine. Superior speed is found when the 1GHz Snapdragon Processor and LG’s 4G LTE modem combined with Verizon’s 4G LTE Network,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

“This power–trio makes it possible to download movies and games in seconds, shoot HD videos and share them instantly, seamlessly multitask and browse the web. Honestly, after one day with this device, you’ll see mobile technology in a whole new way.”

The new Android-based device comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with auto-focus, LED flash and video recording capabilities, as well as with a 1.3 MP Camera on the front, for Video Chat.

According to Verizon, the new device comes preloaded with apps and services like: Bing Search, My Verizon, Amazon Kindle, Backup Assistant, V CAST Media Manager, Mobile IM, Netflix, V CAST Apps, VZ Navigator, Rhapsody, Blockbuster, Let’s Golf 2, Rock Band, TuneWiki, BitBop, Slacker, Android Market, or Gmail.

The new LG Revolution is available at Verizon for $249.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement on specific monthly plans at the wireless carrier. You can see the smartphone on Big Red's website here.
