Back in October, AT&T announced that it was going to offer 250MB of data to owners of cellular capable tablets for $5 a day. Well, now Verizon has rolled out a similar program.

In its official statement, the carrier quotes a Pew Research Center study conducted in September 2013 which shows that 35% of Americans, aged 16 and above, currently own a tablet. Bearing this in mind, Verizon saw fit to kick start its own program for cellular capable slates.

“While many tablet users choose to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi connection in their home, airport or hotel, many people are discovering times that a cellular network connection is needed or desired.”

“For example, if Wi-Fi isn't available in a specific location or the security of a public Wi-Fi network is questionable, cellular is the way to go.”

So form now on, users will be able to opt for a prepaid $5 / €3.65 Daily Plan for their tablet (like the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) and in turn receive 300MB per day.

The data is available for 24 hours, but if it’s exhausted, there’s more available for an additional $5 / €3.65; quite handy if you are thinking of taking a trip to the mountains!
