Verizon Wireless indeed managed to make news today, when, during a press event in New York, it announced officially that the Apple iPhone 4 would become available for purchase on its airwaves starting with the next month.

At the said Verizon event, which was held in New York City, Verizon President Lowell McAdam took the scene and announced that the iPhone 4 will be put on pre-order on the carrier's network starting with February 3rd for existing customers.

“Today we're partnering with a giant of the industry, and that's Apple,” Verizon's Lowell McAdam said at the event. “Our relationship with Apple has developed over the last two years. In 2008 we started talking about bringing the iPhone to a CDMA network. We spent a year testing.”

The Verizon iPhone 4 is expected to be released at Verizon on February 10th for all customers, via the carrier's website as well as in stores, or in Apple stores.

The same as with the GSM flavor of the mobile phone, the iPhone 4 would land at Verizon in different versions, which are differentiated by internal memory, namely a 16GB variant, and a 32GB one.

The price tag of the iPhone was set at $199 for the 16GB model, and at $299 for the 32GB variant, with the signing of a new contract agreement with the wireless carrier, of course.

“Wireless customers have been asking for the iPhone on Verizon -- and we're excited to offer this to existing and new customers. I want to tell you how dedicated we are to launch this. Our employees are ready, we've been scaling our shipping systems. We've been scaling our inventory systems,” said Tim Cook, Apple COO.

The new device includes about the same features as the already available iPhone 4 at AT&T, except for the CDMA connectivity, which makes the whole difference.

Thus, Verizon's customers would soon have the possibility to enjoy the Retina Display, a fast processor, a 5 megapixel camera with HD video recording, the iOS, iTunes, and the App Store, FaceTime, and more.
