14 DAY TRIAL // Verizon Wireless, in partnership with Smashing Ideas, a U.S. developer of digital media based on Adobe Flash, announced the launch of Smashing Games, a mobile games catalog application. Using Smashing Games, Verizon Wireless customers with Get It Now-enabled phones can choose from a variety of Flash Lite mobile games that range from simple, quick games to more advanced memory, arcade and puzzle games.
Smashing Games includes 'featured', 'new' and 'best selling' game categories to help users easily find a game. The catalog can be browsed using the directional pad (up, down, left, right, and activation keys) on the cell phone. To simplify the users' buying decision, Smashing Games includes detailed information about each game as well as demos. In addition, users can play and manage purchased content right from the application.
As part of the launch, Get It Now customers will also be able to play Flash Lite games from Cartoon Network New Media. "It is an honor that Smashing Ideas has been chosen to develop, distribute, and together with the Cartoon Network, market mobile games based on the classic animated entertainment that Cartoon Network's brand is known for in more than 160 countries", said Brian Burke, general manager, Smashing Content at Smashing Ideas.
Some of the games featured on Smashing Games include: Flight of the Hamsters (from Cartoon Network Mobile) - where players must help the hamsters from the Kids Next Door Treehouse take to the skies; Mac's Match-Up (also from Cartoon Network Mobile) - where players have to match up Mac's friends rushing down the staircase to greet him; Fickleblox - a fast-moving puzzle where players have to match up chains or groups of colored blocks; Go Sushi - where players must get Yoshi-san back to work on time by helping him find the correct sushi during lunch; and RUNE MAGE - an addictive puzzle game featuring 25 levels of intense gameplay across five stages.
Verizon Wireless customers can purchase and download Smashing Games from the Get Fun & Games shopping area in the Get It Now virtual store on their handsets, for a price ranging from $3.49 for one-time use and $7.99 for three uses to $9.99 for five uses.
