Verizon Wireless added a new handset to its Push to Talk offering, the CDM8975. The largest North American CDMA carrier also announced that it had made the new handset currently available only through business sales channels.

The new CDM8975 has been developed by Personal Communications Devices (PCD) and comes to the carrier's users as a rather simple clamshell, meant in a way to complete Verizon’s offering of Push to Talk handsets, which is known to also include the Motorola Adventure V750, as well as the G’zOne Boulder.

The specification list of the new Verizon Wireless CDM8975 shows that the handset comes along with EV-DO Rev. A (Evolution-Data Optimized Revision A) connectivity as well as with support for VZ Navigator, providing users with access to turn-by-turn maps, directions and a wide range of data points, while also featuring a dedicated Push to Talk / speakerphone button.

At the same time, the new mobile phone also sports Bluetooth connectivity (with support for headset, hands free (car kits), dial-up networking, stereo, phonebook access, basic printing, basic imaging, object push for vCard, and file transfer) and a 1.3-megapixel camera that includes video recording capabilities.

Other specs and features of the new handset include voice commands, voice activated dialing, and a stereo speaker, microSD memory card slot that supports up to 8GB of additional storage, internal antenna, V CAST Music with Rhapsody capabilities, as well as V CAST Video, and it is TTY/TDD-capable. The new device measures 3.7 x1.9 x 0.8 inches and weighs 3.2 ounces.

The mobile phone operator sells the new device for only $99 with a 2-year contract agreement and after a $50 rebate. According to the company, the rebate is offered “in the form of a debit card.” The company also announced that the new Verizon Wireless CDM8975 would become available starting March 9th, online on the company's site, as well as in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.
