You might remember that some time ago Motorola attempted to carve a place for itself into the tablet market with the DROID XYBOARD 8.2 and 10.1 models, originally launched with Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

But while customers have been quick to forget these mid-range offerings, Verizon hasn't. Actually, the company has scheduled to bring the tablets up to date with current developments and is pushing out an OTA update for Android 4.1.2.

As a quick reminder, both models come packing a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and offer a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. 16GB of internal storage are provided onboard.

So what does the update mean for consumers? From now on, Motorola 10.1 tablet users will be able to tap into some new features like Chrome, Movie Studio and Google Now.

After Android 4.4 was released into the wild, Motorola announced which devices will be getting the hyped update. On the same occasion, it also announced the XYBOARDS 10.1 were getting the Android 4.1.2.

Verizon also claims that the update will enhance overall stability of the OS and strength of the Wi-Fi connection.

The OTA update should currently be available, so those interested should check Settings > About tablet menu to see if it has arrived.

On the other hand, the Motorola XYBOARD 8.2 is getting updated to Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) which is less impressive.
