One of the most anticipated smartphones, Palm Treo 700p, is now officially available for online purchases on Verizon Wireless website and it will be shipped to retail stores on the 1st of June.

The device is powered by an Intel XScale 312MHz processor with 128 MB memory (expandable via MultiMediaCard, SD & SDIO cards) and runs on Palm OS 5.4.9. It includes a TFT display which supports a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels in 65k colors.

Multimedia features include a 1.3 megapixel camera with automatic light balance, 2x digital zoom and video capture, and MIDI, MP3, WAV & video ringtones.

The phone is compatible with CDMA 800/1900MHz and EV-DO networks and includes Bluetooth connectivity.

Verizon Wireless will offer users additional services, which will enhance the functionality of the phone. One of them is the BroadbandAccess Connect service currently used by about 150 million subscribers. This service using EV-DO offers users high download speeds of 400-700 kilobits per second. Another useful service is the Wireless Sync, which allows users to remotely receive e-mails and access calendars, contacts and other information from the PC to the mobile device.

The Palm Treo 700p is priced at $399.99 with a two year contract. The users can choose between three data plans ranging from $79.99 to $169.99 per month.
