It brings several bug fixes and “Enhanced Customer Support”

Verizon pushed the latest software update for LG Revolution sometime in March. Since we don’t expect LG to offer an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in the near future, we weren’t surprised to learn that Verizon Wireless plans to push another maintenance update for the Revolution.

Made official one year ago, Verizon’s LG Revolution was initially shipped with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, but the smartphone received a Gingerbread update a while back.

It’s almost certain that this handset won’t receive a major Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, but at least those who still own the LG Revolution will get the latest Gingerbread updates.

The carrier has just published the official changelog for a new LG Revolution software update. Dubbed VS910ZV9, the update only has 20MB, so it shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to download it and perhaps another 5 to install it.

Among the changes mentioned by Verizon, there’s “Enhanced Customer Support” with Verizon Remote Diagnostics. However, this new feature was also promised in the previous update, so we’re not sure why it is still on “coming soon.”

According to Verizon, this is a “new customer care solution to help improve customer service experience. When a customer calls into Verizon Wireless customer care, this solution, with the customer’s permission, allows support personnel to remotely view the user’s device for device training, application demonstrations and troubleshooting.”

Other highlights of the upcoming maintenance update include:

- Android Security patches have been added; - Picture messages will send properly when connected to Wi-Fi; - Joining functionality in the mobile will keep contacts with same or similar names as separate entities for better user experience; - Improvements have been made to the Phone application to help reduce unknown errors and force closes; - Fixed issue where duplicate text messages were being received; - Device will receive Wireless Alerting System messages.

Although the update is not yet live, Verizon usually pushes these small updates a few days after issuing the changelog’s on its support site.
