Verizon announced recently that the CDMA-based Verizon MiFi 2200 portable 3G HotSpot would be finally launched on the United States market as soon as May 17. For those who do not know what the MiFi Portable HotSpot actually is, we're talking about a credit card-sized Wi-Fi radio, EVDO Rev A. modem that can broadcast its own wireless network, which can prove a great option for users on the go who need to connect more than a single device at the same time.

The Verizon MiFi 2200 can support the connection of up to five WiFi devices at the same time through its own 802.11b/g WiFi network. In addition, it also offers connectivity with Verizon’s nationwide 3G network, offering users the possibility to enjoy MiFi’s portable WiFi network at all time and wherever they'd like to go. The device's battery can offer up to 4 hours of portable 3G connectivity, as well as up to 40 hours of standby time.

Besides announcing that the Verizon MiFi 2200 portable 3G HotSpot would become available for purchase as soon as May 17, the company also unveiled some pricing of the device. Those who would like to acquire the MiFi will have to pay $99.99 for it upon the signing of a 2-year contract agreement and after a $50 rebate.

The new HotSpot is available with a $40/month plan that offers users 250MB of data included (with $0.10/MB overage), as well as with the $60/month plan that provides them with 5GB of data included (with $0.05/MB overage). At the same time, it seems that Verizon will also offer users the possibility to enjoy the capabilities the revolutionary MiFi can offer with Day Passes for $15/day for 5GB of data, in case they do not want to go for a contract agreement.
