Motorola fans may be interested in the fact that major carrier Verizon has announced that it will add two new versions of DROID MAXX to its portfolio of Android devices.

As Droid-Life points out, Android enthusiasts will be able to purchase the DROID MAXX in High Gloss Red and Black with Chrome Accents colors beginning April 22.

According to the carrier, the new DROID MAXX smartphones will go on sale for $100 (€70) on two-year agreements, but customers who do not want to commit to a long-term contract will also be able to buy the handsets for $500 (€360) upfront.

Verizon also offers the DROID MAXX in High Gloss Red and Black with Chrome Accents for $24.99 (€18) per month with Verizon Edge if that’s what you wish.

Not sure if the 2013 flagship smartphone is still worth that amount, but if you are looking for an Android handset with a high-capacity battery, then the DROID MAXX may be the device you need.

Another selling point of the less than one-year-old smartphone is the fact that it comes with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box. This means that you won’t have to wait for Motorola to release and Verizon to approve the KitKat update.

The new color options are only available in the United States through Verizon Wireless. The DROID MAXX was unveiled back in July and went on sale exclusively via the Big Red one month later.

The smartphone’s strong point is the huge 3500 mAh battery, which should provide users up to 600 hours of standby time or up to 48 hours of talk time.

Hardware-wise, the DROID MAXX is not the best on the market, as the smartphone is equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.7GHz.

Furthermore, the handset packs an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Unfortunately, this is all you get, as DROID MAXX does not come with microSD card slot for memory expansion.

It is also worth mentioning that the DROID MAXX sports a vibrant 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra protection.

There’s also a 10-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. A secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera is included as well, along with LTE support and NFC (Near Field Communication).
