Featuring EV-DO and GSM

Latest rumors state that Verizon Wireless might just be about to release a global edition of their recently released Samsung i760 smartphone. The new device will be just the same as the old one, with the sole support for more frequency bands to suit wider areas.

The support for Samsung i760 must have been quite a successful deal for Verizon, if they are considering to expand their offer for it. The world-phone edition will be both EV-DO and GSM, making it suitable for more areas. There are also chances for HSDPA data transfers, which should make it possible to transfer songs and files in a matter of just a few seconds.

The device's success up to this point can be put on account of several enhancements. Samsung i760 should be just the thing for button freaks, as it brings both a sliding QWERTY keypad and a numeric one. This should make it possible to edit large text messages and files with ease, without having to worry about the discomfort of a virtual keypad, the only one that some other touchscreen enabled smartphones bring.

The large number of keypad solutions puts its toll on the phone's sizes, unfortunately, making it thicker and larger than other handsets with similar performances. The 2.8 inch screen also takes up a large amount of space, although the high image and video rendering quality should make up for this downside. The 320 x 230 pixels resolution feels excellent and makes web browsing feel natural and little cramming.

The 1.3 megapixel camera is rather basic, but it should do just great to those that look for a device to handle information and work rather than worry about making artistic pictures. There is also Bluetooth connectivity included, for placing wireless calls.

Samsung i760 has been recently released at Verizon Wireless and a global version of the phone is not out of the question. No official statements to ground this rumor, though.
