Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless and handset vendor Samsung Mobile announced today the upcoming availability of Samsung Omnia II on the operator's airwaves. Starting with December 2, 2009 (in line with previous rumors), Verizon Wireless customers will have the chance to enjoy the new Windows Mobile 6.5-powered mobile phone, its full-touch capabilities, as well as the connectivity options it comes around with.

The Samsung Omnia II is expected to arrive at Verizon in black with red accents on the battery cover, while delivering a 3.7-inch ultra-brilliant touch screen WVGA AMOLED display, a soft QWERTY keyboard with Swype technology, Samsung's enhanced 3D cube user interface, full HTML Web browsing capabilities via Opera 9.5, and fast access to social networking sites through a shortcuts widget.

At the same time, the inclusion of Windows Mobile 6.5 with the new handset also offers a series of new features to users, while the Microsoft Office Mobile solution enables them to manage Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents directly from the phone. Not to mention that they will enjoy access to popular services from Verizon, including V CAST Music with Rhapsody, V CAST Video on Demand, V CAST Song ID, Visual Voice Mail, VZW Tones, VZ Navigator, Mobile IM and Mobile Email.

Other features of the new Omnia II also include SMS, MMS, Mobile IM, Mobile Email and Corporate Email capbilities, a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and video recoding capabilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth capabilities, support for Divx and Xvid video files, 8 GB internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16 GB of additional storage space, as well as social networking apps like YouTube, Facebook, and MySpace, not to mention the Samsung TouchWiz 2.0 UI.

Starting with December 2, Verizon Wireless customers will find the new Samsung Omnia II available for purchase at all Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online on the carrier's website. The price tag for the phone has been set at $199.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate that will be received in the form of a debit card.
