Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has recently activated a new cell site in Ham Lake, offering improved coverage and better services to a wider range of people in the area. According to the company, the new deployment is expected to result in an enhanced mobile user experience when it comes to making calls, sending and receiving e-mail and text, picture and video messages, or browsing the Internet.

The new cell site has been rolled-out at the intersection of State Highway 65 and County Road 61, Verizon announced. Through it, the 3G coverage in Ham Lake and in the surrounding area should be improved, including the following regions: North to 167th Avenue Northeast, South to Bunker Lake Boulevard Northeast, East to Naples Street Northeast, and West to University Avenue Northwest. Through the new deployment, users should benefit from better streaming of videos on their mobile devices, as well as from faster downloads of music, games and ringtones, not to mention that reception is expected to be clearer.

“We’re committed to advancing wireless capacity and coverage for all our customers,” Seamus Hyland, president – Great Plains, Verizon Wireless, commented on the new roll-out. “The most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. We continue to optimize our network so that it remains the most reliable in the nation.”

According to the wireless carrier, it has made a great deal of investments in its network ever since it has been launched. $59 billion were invested in expanding the coverage and increasing the capacity of its airwaves across the United States. As for its Minnesota network, the carrier says it already invested $619.1 million on bringing improvements to it. The enhancements brought to the 3G network would be followed by the commercial launch of an LTE network, which is set to be rolled-out in 25 to 30 markets during the ongoing year.
