The smartphone might only be available online

Lumia 735's release at Verizon Wireless has a painful history. The smartphone that should have been launched a long time ago is still held back by the US carrier for whatever reason. The same goes for T-Mobile's Lumia 640, which has yet to make its debut on the market.

Last week, we reported that Lumia 735 would be launched at Verizon on June 11, which is today. The information was confirmed by a leaked internal document, but it looks like Verizon has decided otherwise once again.

Today, the folks over at WindowsCentral have been tipped on the delay of the Verizon Lumia 735 for next week. According to another Verizon document, the Lumia 745 should be available for purchase beginning June 18.

But things are a bit more complicated since the Big Red will only take online orders for the Lumia 735, which means the handset might not be available through brick and mortar stores on that date.

Verizon stores start receiving Lumia 735 accessories

However, it's unclear whether or not other third-party retailers might stock the Verizon Lumia 735 on June 18. Either way, sources speculate that Verizon is likely to make the smartphone available in stores at a later date, probably on June 22.

Verizon will not announce the Lumia 735 officially until it's sure that it will be able to put it on sale. For the time being, that doesn't seem to be the case.

June 18 seems like a valid release date for Lumia 735 since many Verizon stores have already started to receive accessories for the device, such as cases and holsters.

The Lumia 735 will ship with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 right out of the box, so those who get it won't have to wait for the update to be rolled out by Microsoft.

We will keep an eye out for any additional details on the matter, so stay tuned for more info on Lumia 735's launch at Verizon.
